Isaiah 55:6 ESV

Seek and Know God by first becoming a Christian.

Becoming a Christian is not merely believing some creed or going to church, it’s having a relationship with Jesus Christ. It is having Christ Himself take residence in your life and heart. Jesus said, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in . . .”

Jesus wants to enter into a relationship with you. All you need to do is to open the door by following the steps below.

Step 1: Realize that you are a sinner.

No matter how good a life we try to live, we still fall miserably short of being a perfect person. That is because we are all sinners. Sin simply means that we can’t measure up to God’s perfect standard of righteousness. The Bible says, “No one is good—not even one.” We cannot become who we are supposed to be without Jesus Christ.

Step 2: Recognize that Jesus died on the Cross for you.

The penalty for sin is death, but instead of giving that death to us, Jesus suffered death for us that we might be forgiven by God. The Bible tells us that “God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” This is the Good News, that God loves us so much that He sent His only Son to die in our place when we least deserved it.

Step 3: Repent of your Sin

The Bible tells us, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away.” The word repent means to change our direction in life. Instead of running from God, we can run toward Him. When we confess and repent, we are agreeing with God that we need His grace and forgiveness in our lives.

Step 4: Receive Jesus Christ into your life

If you would like to have a relationship with Christ, simply pray this prayer and mean it in your heart:

“Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I believe You died for my sins. Right now, I turn from my sins and open the door of my heart and life. I confess You as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank You for saving me. Amen.”

If you prayed this prayer, then welcome to the family of God. The Bible records a story of a time when the Apostles Peter and John were about to enter the temple and they saw a man who needed physical and spiritual help. This man, “Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked to receive alms. And Peter directed his gaze at him, as did John, and said, “Look at us.” And he fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them. But Peter said, “I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you.” Acts 3:3-7 ESV

As a Pastor, what I can give to you is to share the Gospel by declaring God’s council to you by teaching God’s word. That is our mission here at Abiding in the Faith Ministries, to declare God’s council and to help you strengthen your walk with Jesus Christ.
